sex in school

Sex in schools

There is country wide debate going on Sex Education. The education department wanted to make Sex Education obligatory in schools. This is one of the finest steps taken by the HRD department in long time. Everybody believe that this act of HRD will be welcome by one and all, but on the contrary some sates like Maharashrtra, Kerala have banned the sex education from school! There are people who have started to appose it in big way. What a disgrace!

In a country where millions of people are suffering from HIV, where innocent girls are raped every hour, even the capital of the country is not free from it, thousands of cases are registered for sexual harassment against women, we still do not want to educate ourselves and our children on sex. It’s outrageous! And why, just because talking about sex was considered be a taboo in our country till now! In a country where the most well-known form of sex (kamasutra) originated, we feel that talking sex with children will put parents and teachers in a awkward situation. Let the teachers do thier job.

If we cannot talk to our children on such imperative issue then how will we help the humanity to be free of crime against women? Let’s not forget that these students are the future of country. Sexual harassment against women is destroying the very spirit of India. We take pride in an Indian born girl when she walks into space, but we don’t feel embarrassed for sexual harassment against women. Why such dual standards?

We all have gone to schools at some point of time in our life. We know how vital it is to learn the basics fact of life / world at an early phase of our life. There is no replacement for it. Topic learned at early days has enormous impact on our future life. We seldom forget what we learn at school, do we?

If parents can’t teach their kids about sex let the teachers do it. We have immense respect for our teachers. They are the one who nurture us to face the truth of life. If they teach us essentials of sex, do you think the bond between the student and teachers will suffer? Do you think it will affect the pure respect for our teachers? I don’t think so. Let us agree that bulk of misdeed and harassment against women is due to lack of sex teaching. If introducing a new program in school helps us in stopping such atrocious offense against women then why not do it? Why such an outcry against it? Why such appositions form certain segment of our society? PL comment

Code of conduct for the banks-An awarness

I want to draw the attention of bank(mostly pvt banks like UTI,HSBC etc.) customers about their consumer right as a customer of the bank.
It is practice of the bank to send the periodic statements of customers
including term deposit receipts through ordinary mail only. This
carries the high risk of wrongful delivery of the bank documents and
chances of falling in hands unscrupulous persons. I would like to
highlight the fact that the bank documents are meant for the customers
are always important and  its contain should not be disclosed
other than the customers.Hence, the bank documents are one's personal property and that needs privacy.

Each bank has to adopt the code of conduct set by The Banking code and Standard board of India,RBI  voluntarily.

By sending such important document through  ordinary mail the
bank has violated the clause 5, of privacy and confidentiality of
banking code and standardard Code of Bank’s Commitments to Customers which states as:

5 Privacy and Confidentiality

We will treat all your personal information as private and
confidential [even when you are no longer a customer], and shall be
guided by the following principles and policies. We will not reveal
information or data relating to your accounts, whether provided by you
or otherwise, to anyone, including other companies entities in our
group, other than in the following exceptional cases:

a.      if we have to give the information by law

b.     If there is a duty towards the public to reveal the information

c.      If our
interests require us to give the information (for example, to prevent
fraud) but we will not use this as a reason for giving information
about you or your accounts [including your name and address] to anyone
else, including other companies in our group, for marketing purposes

d.     If you ask us to reveal the information, or if we have your permission

e.      If we are asked to give a banker’s reference about you, we will need your written permission before we give it.

f.       We, will
explain to you the extent of your rights under the existing legal
framework for accessing the personal records that we hold about you

g.     We will not use your
personal information for marketing purposes by anyone including
ourselves unless you specifically authorize us to do so.

There fore, all information related to a account should always
be mailed through registered /reputed courier agents or by hand over the counter only to its account
holders. We need a strict procedural change in the practice of the bank.

nation

Agriculture is renewed focus for a developing country. It is heartening to learn that agriculture is to be given priority in the 11th five Year Plan. According to a majority of international fiscal experts, only that nation which is strong agriculturally is also strong economically as well.
If we aspire to become a developed nation, we must regain our historical economic status of a grain-exporting nation. The recent crop failure and the farmer’s indebtedness and their consequent suicides are the lively result of poor govt. polices corruption and criminal negligence in supplying electricity and water for irrigation. Now its turn for productive land accrue in West Bengal in name of industrialization, is how far justified in favor of poor farmers and our bread makers. Of course, we do need the industry to grow but certainly not at the cost of our fellow farmers.
Do you not feel that there is a clear lack in policy making; the same is needed to be reviewed?

inspired by mother

Instilled by his mother’s generosity to wards poor, Md.Yunus, the son of prosperous gold smith has learned the sense of duty to the poor. It across all cultures and civilization Yunus and Grameen bank have shown the path that even the poorest of the poor can work to bring about their own development. The success of Grameen Bank has inspired many imitators, and encouraged commercial banks in many developing countries to take up micro credit lending as well. Though it is not first time the Nobel prize committee has chosen to honor economic development as contribution to world peace, rather than the more usual diplomacy or rights advocacy, it is the first time the prize has been awarded to a profit making business. The selection seemed to embody two connected ideas that are gaining ground among the development experts; that attacking poverty is essential to peace, and that private enterprise is essential to attacking poverty.
His success is based on idea of micro-credit policy.
But what does it means and how does it work?
Credit is really another name for borrowing. Business house borrow money to grow their businesses, and create goods and services. Individual borrow to buy or spent on goods/services.
Credit is really a form of Investment in economic growth of the society. If a country has low saving rate, they have to borrow from foreigners or get them to save in their country. Obviously all these works better in a developed country with resources and established markets to capitalized on growth. In developed countries investments happens on a macro or large scale. But for the less developed countries like ours it does not work properly. After war-II Europe borrows money from US to rebuild it self, and the rebuilding on a macro scale: roads, factories, infrastructure etc.
But whether this works on poverty stricken countries like ours/Bangladesh: Micro credit is the alternative path for development in less developed countries (LDC’s) as Md. Yunus finds out. Micro credit makes small loans to mostly women in severely economically depressed economics. An anecdote from Yunus probably answers question best. He taught macroeconomics in Bangladesh University. But every day he would see in the local village abject poverty that negated the means to growth he lectured about. One such day he gave a women 2USD. Now rather than get leather from someone, who told her what shoes to make and then would sell them for her when she was done, she could buy leather herself, make shoes and sell them. She would be able to repay the loan and buy more leather to continue the cycle of growth. From this idea a bank was built: It creates economic growth through small development of goods and services. Each loan recipient Receives a small capital stake with which to create a good for sale. The sale of good makes it possible to repay the loan amount and buy more materials to make more goods.
He founded the bank to lend small amount of cash –often as little
As $20(Bangla taka 1370/-)- to local people, almost always women who could use it to found or sustain a small business by say, buying a cow to sell milk or simple sewing machine to make clothing.
